Medical assistance to students: health centre, health insurance, etc.

Since the college is located at the heart of the city, Govt. Hospital as well as a number of private hospitals are in the close vicinity. The students are entitled for treatment through Students’ Health Home and accordingly each student is charged a nominal fee at the time of admission. The College has also arranged for a Medical Unit offering First Aid facility. In case of emergency the facilities available at the nearby hospitals are utilized.

There are regular programmes organized to generate awareness among the students and teachers about fatal diseases like AIDS, Thalassemia etc. Thalassemia carrier detection for all students has begun in the on-going academic session. Five students and two teachers have been identified as carriers and repots have been sent to the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal for necessary follow up.
